This invention relates to the longitudinal folding of a hose-like material, especially in the production of sausages. The disadvantage of the method is damage to the material during its folding. A device for corrugating a synthetic sausage casing is known, comprising a mandrel and several gears with teeth arranged at an angle and successively in contact with the casing along a spiral line 2. A disadvantage of this device is damage to the material when it is folded. The aim of the invention is to prevent damage to the material. The goal is achieved by agreeing on the method of longitudinal folding of an artificial sausage-shell hose-like material, which involves putting it on the mandrel, fixing one end of it and squeezing in the longitudinal direction towards the opposing force, squeezing is performed by at least one rotating air jet directed obliquely to the longitudinal axis of the mandrel.
